1st: Venetian Soon
“So, that is the main reason why Animal W will be lesser than Ani-” Ms Toh, the Science teacher of Primary Five – Confidence, was rudely interrupted by the shrilly, ear-piercing school bell, which signaled the start of recess. Sighing heavily, Ms Toh dismissed our class for our long-waited recess.
Udhaya and I raced speedily down the never-ending stairs towards the boisterous canteen at such a great speed that we could put Usian Bolt to shame. Upon reaching the rowdy canteen, we sprinted rapidly to the lovely noodles stall. We were great aficionados of noodles. Carrying our steaming hot bowl of noodles after buying them, we sauntered to our seats and slurped the mouth-watering noodles up hungrily. Yummm…
After our scrumptious meal, we kept the noodle bowls and started strolling leisurely around the school. As we rounded a bend, a lanky prefect by the name of Samuel Yan caught our attention abruptly. Samuel was a very arrogant and overconfident prefect. Almost every student in our school despised him. Awkwardly, the teacher-in-charge still chose him as a prefect and a role model for us to follow.
Not wanting the conceited Samuel to know our presence, we stood behind a gargantuan pillar and observed him. Strutting around the school garden like a peacock, he snickered at those who walked past him.
Then, the surprise came.
A juvenile boy walked slowly towards ‘balloon-headed’ Samuel. Little did the diminutive boy knew about the tragedy was about to unfold. As usual, Samuel snickered gleefully at the boy. I could feel that Samuel spotted his target and the boy was like a gullible mouse falling into a trap. At that very moment, when the boy crossed Samuel’s path unknowingly, Samuel landed his right palm on the young boy’s shoulder. Udhaya and I gulped uneasily. The boy was in apprehensive danger.
“Give me all your money! NOW! Or else I will record your name down” Samuel lashed out a brutal threat at the innocent youthful boy abruptly. A great bolt of electricity threatened to run down my tingling spine. My immense fear turned into towering rage. I had to act especially fast, or else this would become a bully case. However, something held me back. What if Samuel recorded my name down? What if he hits me up devastatingly? Racking my brain frantically for a quick decision, I finally came to an accurate decision – I would inform a teacher. Tugging Udhaya by her short sleeve, I insisted her to follow me to report the case to a teacher.
At the canteen, we spotted the svelte Ms Toh from a great distance. We urged her to swiftly follow us to the school garden as we instantaneously recounted the entire incident to her. She marched irately towards the chaotic scene, where many inquisitive students have gathered.
“Samuel Yan Tze Wen! Stop threatening the pitiful boy. YOU ARE A PREFECT, NOT A HOOLIGAN!” Ms Toh reprimanded Samuel crossly. Everyone howled with laughter, except for Samuel. He was bright red on his chubby cheeks, utterly embarrassed. String of admonishing words erupted from Ms Toh.
“I will inform your teacher-in-charge,” Ms Toh warned Samuel with a tinge of seriousness in her stoic voice. Well, it was now Samuel’s time to feel terrified. Under his musty breath, Udhaya and I could hear him muttering, “Better watch out, you two fools. One day, I will get you. I will.”
The next day, Five – Confidence was heedfully informed that Samuel was taken out of the Prefectorial Board. Udhaya and I winked at each other happily. That moment, the teacher announced aloud to the class that Udhaya and I have been specially chosen to be added into the Prefectorial Board for our bravery with effect from the next day. Udhaya and I leapt out of our seats ebulliently. We dashed at full speed towards our teacher and thanked her crazily. Returning back to our seats silently, we continued to bubble with excitement.
That was my truly remarkable experience where I had to make the right choice and I did so, and was specially rewarded for it.

2nd: Teo Zhijie
Making the right choice may be easy for most of the people in the world but can they ever bear the consequences after making their choice. While James who is a student, and he was studying very hard for his upcoming exam. However, he is much different from any other student and he takes a very long time to understand a topic that the teacher just taught. One day where his friend who name Deston offered cigarettes to most of his classmate. Deston told his classmate that the cigarette could help them score well for the upcoming exam, many students were attracted to his words and took the cigarette. Deston then came up to James and told him the same words that he said to the other students, but James did not know whether to accept it or reject it. James made a quick decision so he rejects the offer from Deston.
When the exam came, most of his classmates sat down for the paper and did confidently. James was struggling at the beginning of the test and he regretted not having the cigarette offered by Deston. Whenever he turns to the next page of the exam paper, cold sweat started shivering down his spine as the question gets even more challenging. When the exam was over James heaved a sigh of relief as he finally complete the paper. While James is walking back home, he noticed most of his classmates were standing outside the school gate and smoking. He was shocked that most of them were addicted to the cigarette that Deston had offered them. He ran home and did research about the causes of smoking and most of the researches are bad consequences.
It was time when the exam marks were announced and then he realized that most of his classmates who smoke scored better than he did. James was very disappointed for not having the cigarette that Deston had offer. After getting his result, James did not gave up and continue striving for his own goal which was getting an A* for his English. James studied hard for every single test.
Finally after months of hard work and practice, James sat for the paper and did it with eased. While most of his friends struggling for the exam, James the noticed the harm of cigarette. His classmates started behaving oddly and their fitness became much lousier over the times. When James got back his test results he noticed that most of his friend who smoke did very badly for their test and James had finally reached his goal by scoring an A*. 3rd: Zou Yu Xuan
Since young, Bryan had been a good-mannered boy. He always hands in tremendously neat and tidy work and his study is outstanding. You might think he also has a wonderful childhood. But his life is totally different.
His both menacing parents are drug dealers. Every time you see them, the first thing in your mind will say” Oh, my god!” Bryan’s father, Mr. Seow, was dressed in rags and had tattered clothes, like those families which were poor. Mrs. Seow, his wife, on the other hand, was dressed like a rich princess. You would see her wearing tons of diamonds, pendants, and earrings……all these expensive items. They both always scold Byran. Like one day, when Byran was doing his school homework. Mrs. Seow saw his tidy work and shout, “Why don’t you write fast and help me pack the drugs! Why must you write so nice?!” Bryan burst into tears and ran out of his room without saying a word. When Bryan hide in a place that no one saw him, he muttered, “Why must I have those two cruel parents? Why???” But then, this shocking story goes on.
When Bryan was in secondary one, their teacher talked about drugs and how they affect the healthy people. Bryan was excited. He began to jolt down the notes. But when he went home, he decided to investigate why the parents were cruel to him.
AS he went hone he tiptoed, making no one spying on him. Then, he heard his mother talking on the phone, “Yes, yes, that drug, yes, $448, offer…mmmm…$228 now. Ya thanks, Bye!” Hearing this Bryan’s face turned extremely pale. How could she do this?! He felt he wanted to kill her. He clenched his fist. As he was coming out of the room, Bryan shouted, “How can you do such a miserable thing! As a parent, WHY MUST YOU DO SUCH A THING???!!!” Bryan’s mother was so shocked; her body was trembling with fright and her face as white as snow. She opened her mouth and managed to catch her words, ”Son, you…..” Bryan’s father began to appear out of nowhere, cried, “How could you shout at your mother!” In a fit of anger, Bryan screamed, “You think I have NO RIGHT TO SCOLD MY ONLY MOTHER???!!!!” Father, heard this, was really absolutely extremely surprised. “Son…..My dear son……” He murmured with big dumbfounded, bulging eyes. But for Byran, this was the first time scolding his parents.
Suddenly, he reached out his smart phone and called the police. His parents, who were to dumb to move, were staring hard at their dearest son. But when the police arrived, Bryan hung his head low and said no words. Bryan slowly watched his parents pulled by the police into the police car. The police praised for his bravery but warned him not shout at the parents. Bryan agreed and thought the parents could learn the lesson.
